Biltmore Estate - (North Carolina) Largest family home in America (65 fireplaces), with a breath taking garden, tasty winery, and lots of trails to explore.  If you are there around Christmas, be sure to do the candlelight tour and the behind the scenes tour.

Glacier National Park - (Montana) Stacy's favorite park.  It rained there the entire time we were there, but the views made it unforgettable.  Be sure to stay at Many Glacier Hotel

Haleiwa - (Oahu) - Fun town on the North Shore of Oahu, with restaurants, and shops.  Just north of the famous Hawaiian beaches; Pipeline, Sunset Beach, and Waimea Bay.  Be sure to go to Wyland Galleries (by far my favorite marine artist) and Kua'Aina (listed in our food section below).

Kailua Beach / Lanikai Beach - (Oahu)  Has been ranked several times as the number one family beach in the world.  My favorite place to run.

Kapalua Beach - (Maui) Stacy's favorite beach.  Here you will find good snorkeling, and a great beach to lay out on.

La Jolla Cove - (San Diego) Nice place to have a picnic, walk around and enjoy the beautiful cliffs overlooking La Jolla.  Be sure to take a walk along Prospect street.

Mission Bay - (San Diego) Great place for a family picnic, and even better place to sail (where my dad taught me to sail).  There are several rental companies along the water with various size boats.

New York City - Yes, it's big, but you have to go there once and spend a few days walking around.  For Stacy's first visit to the Big Apple, we started walking at 10 am, and finished around 1:30 am, culminating in a romantic candlelight dinner outside in Little Italy, with a view of the empire state building.

Old Town - (San Diego) Great place to learn about California's history.  There are lots of shops, art and occasional workshops.

San Diego Zoo - # 1 Zoo in America.  If there is an animal that you want to see, it's there!

Sea World -  (San Diego) Get close and personal with all sorts of dolphins, Orcas, sea lions and more.

Yosemite National Park (Eastern California) - My favorite park.  Be sure to stay at Curry Village.  Yosemite's waterfalls, trails and wildlife make it the spot to relax.

Best Food Around

Bay Club - (Maui)  Very pricey, but the food is excellent.  Oh yeah, the view at sunset will make your visit.

Bryant & Cooper or Rothman's Steakhouse- (Long Island, NY) Best steak house's I have been to, and I've been to a lot of them.  Chart House, Angus Barn, Outback don't come close.  Order the Porterhouse for two.

El Indio - (San Diego) Best Mexican food around.  I grew up with this stuff and it's always the first and last place I go to when in SD.  Order a number 7, and be sure to get chips to go.

In&Out Burger - (San Diego) Second favorite burger place, with excellent fries.  Expect to wait a while.

Kua'Aina - (Oahu) Best burgers and fries in the world.  It is a small spot in Haleiwa that is usually packed during lunch and dinner, but well worth the wait.  Be sure to check out the shops and then drive on over to the Dole Plantation as you leave Haleiwa town and try some pineapple yogurt (yummy).

Oceanside Gazebo Restaurant - (Maui) (Known to us as the Pancake Hut) Some day when we retire we will buy a house close by and eat breakfast here every morning.   By far, the best place to have breakfast.  Located right on the water, with a view of Molokai.  Small, very casual restaurant with a great breeze, and cool little birds flying around.  Order the Macadamia Nut Pancakes.

Wilbertos Taco Shop - (Our House) - Home of the sour cream chicken enchilada.

World Famous - (San Diego) Where I proposed to Stacy.  Located on the water in Pacific Beach, with exceptional seafood and steak.  Be sure to order the Lobster Bisque.

Sailing Sites

America's Cup- This site will keep you up to date on the latest efforts in the 2003 America's Cup, which will be held in Auckland, NZ.

Kaneohe Yacht Club (Oahu) - The yacht club I worked at throughout college. Kaneohe Bay offers steady trade winds, calm waters and a large sandbar geared towards fun and relaxation.

Mission Bay (San Diego) - Where my dad taught me to sail.  Light winds, calm waters, and miles of sand to pull up on, make it an ideal location for a family outing.  Also lots of boat rental companies.

Moorings - If you are interested in chartering a yacht, the Moorings are a great choice with locations all over the world.

US Sailing - US Sailing is the governing body of sailing, and offers information regarding learn to sail programs, races, seminars, and jobs.
